BAKED CHOCOLATE GLAZED DONUTS
Baked donuts is a new favorite, having always had fried donuts ever since I was little, going to my favorite donut shops. I never thought that a baked donut would ever satisfy that fried dough craving especially since that is traditionally what a doughnut is…fried dough with added flavors and toppings. Deep frying dough essentially isn’t the healthiest route for any type of food, so creating a doughnut that still tastes amazing with all the flavors and texture but rather is baked was the best idea. It is a batter like consistency rather than a dough that is formed into a shape and can hold its shape. It is a liquid that is poured into a donut shaped pan and then baked. My favorite doughnuts are the small chocolate cake doughnuts with vanilla frosting; that has and always will be my go-to order even at the fanciest doughnut shops. Therefore, I needed to recreate it but in a somewhat healthier baked version, so here it is!
This can be made as a one-bowl recipe to make it easier and less time consuming for those that want something quick to whip up and enjoy. With that being said, start with the wet ingredients and then sift in the dry ingredients directly into the wet ingredients once it has been well combined and smooth. This is a very simple and quick recipe to make for any occasion or just a simple quick sweets fix for the family. Because it is baked there is not much of a prep time nor is there a requirement to work with hot oil, making sure the oil stays at a certain temperature, frying the dough so that it is cooked all the way through but not burnt on the outside. Doughnuts can be quite the hassle that can take up much of your day and a process to follow but this baked donut version cuts all that time down by more than half and allows you to enjoy a fluffy & soft, donut; it may not have that crunch on the outside from frying but still so incredibly delicious!
Does Not require many ingredients and also doesn’t need a whole lot of each ingredient either. Here is what you need:
- Whole milk
- Oil
- Egg
- Cocoa Powder

Combine there dry ingredients in a large bowl. Make sure to sift flour and cocoa powder to prevent any lumps and chunks in your batter
In a separate bowl, combine the brown sugar, milk, eggs, oil and vanilla. Stir until smooth. Then mix together the wet and dry ingredients until the batter is smooth.
Pour into the prepared pan filling each donut about ¾ full (it will rise in the oven). Bake for 10-15 minutes depending on how big or small your donut pan is. Take out and let cool until almost completely cooled. Make the vanilla glaze in a bowl and dip each donut & Enjoy!
